Staying Sane in a Divided Country
Hi Friends,
In today's hyper-connected world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the endless stream of news—and not all of it is accurate. For many of us, especially midlife women who are juggling countless roles, maintaining our mental well-being in a divided country can seem like a full-time job. But by curating our news sources, verifying what we read, and taking actionable steps toward building supportive communities, we can reclaim our sanity and foster a sense of empowerment.
I’ve certainly had to work overtime to stay healthy in this season. In my latest blog post, I dive into some trusted fact-checking resources and share tips to help you get involved in causes you care about. My personal favorites are the Allsides app and the 5 Calls app—details are all in the post.
I’ve experienced my share of anxiety, frustration, and even anger lately. I’m actively working on setting boundaries with my phone (like designating a docking station and taking notes the old-fashioned way!) and have found that distancing myself when needed is crucial. Reminding myself to take breaks and enjoy life, even when those around me are struggling, has truly filled me with energy and motivation to keep helping.
No matter how you vote or view the world, my goal remains the same: to show love and seek understanding. I hope you find some practical comfort and inspiration in this week’s post.
Cheering you on!
Lisa
