The Difference Between Coaching & Counseling
Dec 01, 2024Counseling and coaching both support personal growth, but they serve different purposes.
Counseling focuses on healing emotional wounds and addressing clinical concerns such as trauma, anxiety, or depression. It dives deep into root causes, often involves diagnosing mental health issues, and may be covered by insurance.
Coaching, on the other hand, is forward-focused and designed to tackle situational, non-clinical challenges. Coaching doesn’t diagnose but provides practical tools and strategies to help you move from where you are to where you want to be—whether that’s building confidence to re-enter the dating world after healing in therapy or creating a roadmap for a fulfilling next chapter. Coaching is about empowering you to overcome obstacles and achieve specific goals with a step-by-step, solution-focused approach.
If you’re unsure whether counseling or coaching is right for you, I’d love to help you figure it out!
I offer a FREE 15-minute consultation call where we’ll discuss where you are in life, what you want to achieve, and what’s holding you back. Let’s explore how I can best support you on your journey.
